Aluminum die casting
Die casting is a casting technique completely executed in a machine. The process starts by connecting two mould halves, of which one with an injection opening, the liquid metal is injected under high pressure (between 0,3 up to 7 bar) into the mould.
The casted part cools down afterwards and is ejected after opening the moulds.
Since the mould is usually made of steel, die casting is very suitable for metals with a low melting point such as aluminum, copper, lead, zinc and other non Ferro metals.
The advantages of injection die casting are:
- Suitable for large series and/or numbers
- Weight from 100 gram up to 20 kg.
- Wall thinkness upwards of1 mm.
- A high surface quality
- Suitable for complex cast forms
- Almost no need for finishing
